EPIC BROADBAND SOLUTIONS NAMED COLORADO’S FASTEST GROWING TECHNOLOGY COMPANY IN DELOITTE’S COLORADO TECHNOLOGY FAST 50 PROGRAM

Attributes tight cost controls and industry experience to its five-year revenue growth rate of 8,506 percent

(Castle Rock, Colo., Oct.20, 2006)—Epic Broadband Solutions has been named the state’s fastest growing technology company in Deloitte’s prestigious Colorado Technology Fast 50 Program, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies in Colorado by Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, one of the nation’s leading professional services  organizations.  Rankings are based on the percentage revenue growth over five years from 2001–2005.

Also, Epic was ranked 32nd on Deloitte’s 2006 Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies in North America.  

Epic’s CEO Edward Thompson and President Eric Hillila cite tight cost controls and their management and sales staff’s significant contacts and market experience for achieving the company’s 8,506 percent revenue growth from 2001–2005.

“We had worked in the marketplace for 10 years before starting Epic in 2001, and we had bought from companies like ours,” said Thompson of the Castle Rock, Colo.-based IT solutions provider and manufacturer of custom fiber-optic cable assemblies. “We knew what was important in terms of level of service and the quality of product people wanted.”

Epic’s increase in revenues of 8,506 percent from 2001 to 2005 resulted in a first place ranking in the Colorado Technology Fast 50.  The average increase in revenues among companies who made the Technology Fast 50 for this region was 615 percent.

To qualify for the Colorado Technology Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2001 and $5,000,000 in 2005, be headquartered in Colorado, and be a company that owns proprietary technology or proprietary intellectual property that contributes to a significant portion of the company’s operating revenues; or devotes a significant proportion of revenues to the research and development of technology.  Using other companies’ technology or intellectual property in a unique way does not qualify.
